August in a Nutshell

So the month of August wasn't too exciting or out of the ordinary but we did keep busy. I drove down to see Craig a couple of the weekends and he came up to see me. Ok so maybe it was a little more exciting than that.

15th-17th : We attempted to attend the Temple and the Bonfire but I tripped and fell while walking up to the Temple. Craig went ahead and did some work while I tried to clean up and attend to my knee and hand. After that we headed over to the Visitors Center to see the Statues...what an amazing display. The artist Angela Johnson, who is actually a opera singer by trade, sculpted various scenes from the life of Christ as well as other church history. They were awesome and if you have a chance to see them before the New Year I would highly advise it.

22nd- 24th : Surprise...Suzanne calls Craig and asks him to be ready in a few hours to come for the weekend. My grandparents (from my dad's side) came into town for my cousin's ordination. Also we were moving my mom that weekend. So gratefully Craig agreed and I drove straight from work to his house to pick him up. Ok so its not around the corner but when your dad says go get your boyfriend you comply. I think it was a good weekend...at the very least tiring. Craig was a great help while we were moving and a good sport to let me drag him around everywhere. My dad's family got to meet him as well.

29th-Sept 1st: This holiday week was totally planned for Craig to come for a visit. My brother and his family were coming from Washington and I wanted them to meet Craig. Plus it was a fair trade, I spent the 4th of July in San Leandro. We had fun hanging out with my family playing games, talking, laughing, and joking. We took family photos on Sunday at the park. Guess what...we left Craig in all of them. So we were being teased that it better become a permanent thing since the photos were already taken.

Only time would tell...

July 31st: Prelude to Jennifer's Birthday!

So Jennifer's 25th birthday is August 1st but I couldn't come that weekend for a visit. I had Thursday off since I worked Saturday. Craig and I talked, deciding I would come down that day. We don't like not seeing each other at least once a week. I also had my cousin's Open House on Saturday night and since I didn't make the wedding due to a prior commitment...our date to the A's game, I felt I should go so a short weekend trip was out.
So off I went to San Leandro on a beautiful Thursday in the middle of summer. Craig had to work and I had somethings to do that morning. The plan was I would pick him up at work and then we would head to the Temple for a session. Well that's what we did. I found my way to Coast Guard Island (not bad for only my second time driving there and no guide or directions this time). I drove us back to Craig's so he could change his clothes before heading to Oakland. Man I love that Temple. It is such a wonderful place to go. After our session Craig and I grabbed a bite to eat at Round Table. It was fun sharing a pizza with him, enjoying the afternoon with no where I had to be right away. Ok well I did need to get back to take Jen out for her birthday but I was enjoying the moment for now. We returned to his family's house to find Jennifer ready and waiting to go to dinner. My bad...I just consumed a good amount of pizza.
So Jennifer and I took off for dinner. We had a great time and went to this Chinese restaurant called Hidden Wok. The food was great and the Lemon Chicken was fabulous. We decided to live it up a bit and headed across the parking lot to Baskin Robbins for a sundae after dinner. Talk about full...but it was all yummy and worth the uncomfortable feeling. Yes I can even laugh about it now.
I spent a little while longer with Craig that evening before wishing them all a good night and headed back to Sacramento.

Pride and Prejudice and The Bridal Shower Wedding

So I came down for a visit to spend some time with Craig's sisters and mom watching the A&E version of Pride and Prejudice and to attend Lissa's Bridal Shower.

We started the 5 hour movie on Friday night and took an intermission until Saturday morning. Poor Craig had to put up with the English humor, giggling & laughing girls, entertaining himself, and the comments about which guy was cuter. He was a good sport about it though. When we took a lunch break to Jerry's Beefburgers for some yummy food before returning to finish the rest of the movie. He faithly watched it with me for the last hour or so. Good job Honey and you didn't fall asleep. I almost did though, I stayed up to late and was up too early with Beamer. Sorry Beamer, you're great but you don't let me sleep in.
The time for the shower came and I was feeling a little bad about leave Craig to his own devices most of the past day and a part so I dropped the bridal gift off to the shower. I was coming down with a migraine and needed food anyways so Craig and I went out to dinner at Texas Roadhouse. He had never been there. I had fun and so did he. Nothing like eating hot yeast rolls with cinnamon butter while cracking peanuts shells, eating the nuts and tossing the rest on the floor. Messy, yes, but satisifying and you don't have to do the clean up!!!
Once again we returned to the Wuehler's to chill for a little while until I had to head over to Sis. Reay's for the night. It is so nice to stay at her house so near to Craig's.

Sunday was much like most, we attended church and had dinner with his family.

July 18th-20th - Sacramento Railroad Museum and Meeting the Emerson's

Craig took the train to Sacramento for a visit with Suzanne. After breakfast with her Dad and Jean we headed to Downtown Sacramento to visit the Railroad museum. What an experience!!! Neither of us had ever been there before. We wondered around looking at replicas of trains, buildings, people, shipments, dining cars, etc.

We learned a lot of cool information. We started out with a tour group but gave up soon on that and wandered on our own. We spent a great amount of time taking photos and reading the facts at each train describing the era and functions of that specific vessel. We also got to walk through a mail train and see the cubbies and mail bags.

After our downtown wandering and some lunch at the Chill Grill (it's just ok) we went over to Cat and Sam's. Craig got to meet my friends the Emerson's. We joined them for dinner with the missionaries. We shared some Straw Hat pizza and teased the Elders until it was time to go.

After our return to my house we crashed on the couch with a movie for the evening.

Sunday I returned Craig home to his family. We arrived in time to share family dinner. This time though we were celebrating Vanessa's birthday (a little belated). The main course was deep fried shrimp...guess what??? I tried it and actually liked it. We had to say farewell to Isaac and Vanessa as they were heading home to Utah in the next day or so and this was the last time I was going to see them for a while. Isaac went around the room for the usual good bye kisses. What a cutie.

"Group Date" or so we thought...

So we organized this great group date with our friends Christi and Griffin but things came up and the other couples fell through. In the end it was a trio. My roommate Amberlyn joined Craig and I for a weekend of entertainment. We started the Kiera Knightly Pride and Prejudice although we didn't quite finish it. Sunday we all went to church together and Amberlyn got to meet some new people. We shared dinner with the Wuehler Family and then headed back to Sacramento.

Oh and you might ask what happened to the food we brought for the group picnic...we shared it with the family for Sunday dinner and they loved it!!! Yeah for Pecan Chicken Spinach Salad.

This weekend I also got to meet Craig's sister in law Vanessa and nephew Isaac. It was a lot of fun. I had fun getting to know them and enjoyed meeting more of Craig's family.

Vanessa, Amberlyn, and Suzanne

What a shock for Vanessa and Jim...they had no idea Craig had a girlfriend. What are trips home for if not to find out things you miss when you live far away.

The Fourth of July Holiday Weekend

We decided to wear matching shirts for the Fourth of July; we got them the weekend before, at Old Navy. We went to "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" that afternoon; then ate BBQ at Craig's family's house.

On Saturday the Fifth, we went to Roosevelt Beach, in Half Moon Bay, CA. The beach is great fun!
